How it works

One ritual, every Sunday

No feed to scroll, no daily nagging. Just a quiet weekly rhythm.

1. Two matched questions land each week

One looking back, one looking forward, same theme, different angle. You each see the other's answer and record your own right alongside it.

2. The senior view is one button

Whoever's in the senior role gets one giant glowing button and huge text. No menus, no scrolling, nothing to figure out.

3. Sunday night, the digest compiles itself

Both answers get stitched together automatically, with a little chime, into one shareable audio moment. It quietly builds into an archive, 52 weeks a year, sequenced light to meaningful.

Why I built this

I built this after I lost my dad

As my parents got older, I realized how much I'd never actually asked them. How they met. What my mom's favorite food was. Small things I always figured I'd get around to someday.

Then I lost my dad. My brother and I have both said the same thing more than once, that we'd give a lot just to hear his voice again. I only have one or two videos of him, and hearing his voice in those still brings me real joy. Not just me either. Everyone in my family who hears them feels it.

Kinfire is built so any family can hear each other whenever they want, wherever they are, without a group text nobody has time to keep up with. Some weeks the questions are easy. Some are funny. Some are hard. I hope your family gets as much out of it as mine will.

The difference

Not another memoir project

Most family story apps hand one person a stack of prompts to answer alone. Everyone else reads it later, if the book ever gets finished. That's homework, not a conversation.

Typical story apps

  • One person answers, usually just one storyteller
  • Weekly prompt leads to a book, eventually
  • Everyone else reads it later, if at all
  • Output: a future memoir, someday

Kinfire

  • Both people answer, every single week
  • Weekly question leads to a Sunday audio digest
  • Both of you hear each other, right away
  • Output: the exchange itself, weekly

FAQ

Good to know

Does it matter if we have different phones?

No. One invite code works whether your family's on iPhone, Android, or a mix of both.

Is this private?

Yes. Recordings stay inside your family. No public sharing, no ads, no analytics selling your data. Delete everything permanently from inside the app at any time.

What if we miss a week?

Nothing is lost. The next week's question shows up regardless, and there's no streak to protect.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, anytime, no long-term commitment beyond the period you're already in.
